OTESA and NUST partner for skills development
OTESA Civil Engineering and the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) this week formalised a strategic partnership to enhance internship programmes and practical skills development. The Memorandum of Understanding, signed on 4 March 2026, establishes a formal framework for NUST students to gain hands-on experience within OTESA’s operational environment.
The agreement initially focuses on civil engineering and quantity surveying but is designed to expand into other academic fields in the future. By providing exposure to real-world projects, the partnership aims to improve the professional competencies of graduates and ensure they are better prepared for the requirements of the modern workforce.
Rudolf Coetzee, the chief people and culture officer at OTESA, said the partnership reflects the company’s vision to invest in Namibia’s future professionals. He stated that by collaborating with NUST, OTESA aims to equip students with the necessary skills to excel while simultaneously strengthening the talent pipeline for the construction and engineering sectors.
Professor Teresia Kaulihowa, deputy vice-chancellor of NUST, added that the collaboration provides students with invaluable industry exposure, effectively bridging the gap between classroom theory and professional practice. She noted that the initiative aligns with the university’s commitment to equipping graduates with practical insights to succeed in Namibia’s evolving economy.
