Manica boosts ESG credentials
Manica Group Namibia has attained the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System certification, marking a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to sustainable business practices.
ISO 14001 is the internationally recognised standard for environmental management systems (EMS). It provides a framework to help organisations identify and manage the environmental impact of their activities, ranging from resource consumption and waste management to emissions and legal compliance.
For Manica, this certification represents a strategic integration of environmental responsibility into its core operations. The company has now formalised systems to monitor, measure, and consistently improve environmental performance across its logistics, freight, and marine services.
The structured EMS framework is designed to reduce waste, optimise resource use, and minimise the group’s environmental footprint. Additionally, the standard ensures systematic tracking of local and international environmental laws, mitigating legal and financial risks.
The achievement reinforces Manica’s focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals. Over the past year, the group has intensified its sustainability efforts, including initiatives to reduce its carbon footprint through enhanced logistics and operational efficiency.
This latest accreditation joins the group’s existing portfolio of certifications, which includes ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management) and ISO 45001:2023 (Occupational Health and Safety).
