- Bank Windhoek digitises procurement
Bank Windhoek has launched a digital procurement platform powered by SAP Ariba, aiming to modernise its procurement processes and improve engagement with suppliers.
The bank said the launch makes it the first fully Namibian-owned entity to implement SAP Ariba in Namibia. The platform connects buyers and suppliers through a global network used in 190 countries.
Streamlining procurement
Bank Windhoek's financial director, Zenaune Kamberipa, said the platform reflects the bank's commitment to digital innovation and a more efficient, transparent and accessible procurement environment.
“We are excited to provide suppliers with a modern platform that enhances visibility, strengthens engagement and supports inclusive participation in our procurement activities. This is an important step in strengthening collaboration with our supplier community and advancing our digital procurement capabilities,” she said.
The platform allows businesses to manage procurement, purchasing and supply chain processes. It connects buyers and suppliers through the SAP Business Network, with the aim of making transactions and cash flow management more efficient.
Suppliers can register, create and update their profiles through a self-service digital system, helping to keep their business information accurate and accessible.
The platform will also facilitate requests for quotations (RFQs), formal tenders and other competitive bidding processes, including reverse auctions. These features are intended to improve suppliers' access to procurement opportunities and simplify engagement with the bank.
Opportunities for local businesses
Alongside the launch, Bank Windhoek has revamped the procurement page on its website to help current and prospective suppliers access the platform and manage their profiles.
The bank has encouraged small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and other local businesses to register. A profile could improve a supplier's visibility to the bank and provide access to relevant procurement opportunities, subject to eligibility requirements and the bank's approval.
However, registration does not guarantee participation in or the award of a contract. Access to sourcing events will remain subject to the bank's procurement procedures and invitation criteria.
Registered suppliers may also be able to view sourcing opportunities from other potential customers on the SAP Business Network. Access will depend on their profile settings and the permissions they have enabled.
Kamberipa said the bank looked forward to working with suppliers through the platform and strengthening mutually beneficial relationships.
