Top estate agents honoured at Bank Windhoek awards
The annual Bank Windhoek Estate Agent Awards recently celebrated outstanding performers in the Windhoek property market. Recognising excellence in residential property transactions, the top achievers in the N$25 million and above category were Rightmove Properties Windhoek CC (gold), Okomita Property Development CC (bronze), and Just Property Group CC (bronze).
Marion Wolf and Lourette Liebenberg from Rightmove Properties Windhoek reflected on a strong year for their company. “We built on the success of the past three years, focusing on client service and leveraging technology to enhance efficiency,” they said. “Strong relationships with industry stakeholders and great cooperation with Bank Windhoek’s home loan consultants contributed to our success.”
Jacko Koen from Okomita Properties highlighted how lower interest rates have driven demand. “With interest rates decreasing, we’ve seen a surge in property sales. Developments like Osona Village, with new amenities such as a shopping centre, public transport, and schools, have also played a significant role in boosting transactions,” he noted.
Just Property Group’s Schantal Teichmann commended Bank Windhoek’s support. “Their commitment to property finance has made a real difference. We look forward to continued success in 2025.”
The event underscored the resilience of Namibia’s property sector, with Bank Windhoek’s Chief Financial Officer, Zenaune Kamberipa, revealing that the bank financed 427 homes worth approximately N$600 million in the past year—a 24% increase from the previous year.
Kamberipa attributed this growth to recent monetary policy adjustments by the Bank of Namibia. “Following South Africa’s lead, the central bank has reduced the repo rate twice in recent months. With inflation at 4.5%, these cuts make homeownership more accessible despite rising property prices,” he said. “Now is the right time to invest in property, as demand remains strong.”
Bank Windhoek’s Head of Property Finance, Maureen Platt, echoed this optimism. “2024 was a good year for the property market. Our relationship with estate agents is crucial in shaping Namibia’s real estate landscape, and we are committed to supporting future growth.”
The awards, held annually, recognise the contributions of estate agents, agencies, and developers across Namibia’s central, coastal, and northern regions.
