All new Jaecoo J7 Super Hybrid takes the spotlight on My.na Cars

The all-new Jaecoo J7 Super Hybrid (HEV) is a plug-in hybrid SUV that promises a blend of luxury, performance and cutting-edge technology. My.na Cars presenter Diana Master and Nicolai Majiedt, a sales representative at Novel Ford Windhoek, review the new SUV, walking viewers through its standout features, from its sleek design to its advanced hybrid system and intelligent driving modes.

According to Majiedt, the Jaecoo J7 Super Hybrid, known for its Super Hybrid System (SHS), features a wider body design and aerodynamically optimised wheel rims that enhance fuel efficiency. “The five-spoke wheels are intentionally designed to minimise wind resistance and boost performance,” he explained.

The plug-in hybrid setup allows for two charging options: a fast charger that powers the battery from 30% to 100% in about 45 minutes, and a standard home charger that completes the same task in just under two hours.

Inside, viewers can expect a luxurious, tech-driven interior. The SUV features a 14.8-inch infotainment screen, voice-command functionality, and customisable ambient lighting in nine colours. Other highlights include wireless charging, memory seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a Sony sound system for premium audio quality.

Under the bonnet, the Jaecoo J7 HEV combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with three electric motors, delivering an impressive 255 kW and 525 Nm of torque. Drivers can switch between Eco, Normal and Sport modes, offering flexibility for both city commutes and long-distance travel. In full electric (EV) mode, the SUV can travel up to 90 kilometres purely on battery power, while hybrid mode extends the total range to around 1 200 kilometres. Fuel consumption averages 4.7 litres per 100 km in hybrid mode and just 0.9 litres per 100 km with battery assist.

Safety features include pre-collision assist, pedestrian detection, lane assist, lane departure warning, a 360-degree camera system, seven airbags and ISOFIX anchors for child seats.

Majiedt noted that the Jaecoo J7 Super Hybrid is backed by a five-year/75 000 km service plan, a seven-year/100 000 km warranty, a 10-year/1 million km engine warranty, and a seven-year unlimited-kilometre battery warranty.

Priced from N$730 000, the hybrid model tops the Jaecoo J7 range, which also includes an all-wheel-drive variant at N$700 000 and entry-level models starting at N$590 000.

“This car really works for you,” said Master after the test drive. “It’s elegant, efficient, and packed with innovation - truly an executive feel without breaking the bank.”
