Sunbet expands to Namibia

Sunbet, the online gaming brand within the Sun International group, is preparing to enter the Namibian market as part of its wider expansion strategy in Southern Africa.

The company said the move is intended to strengthen its regional presence and build on existing operations in neighbouring markets, including Botswana, where it already offers online betting services.

Sunbet said the expansion reflects growing demand for mobile-based gaming and digital entertainment across the region. “Our growth across the continent is driven by an understanding of local markets and a focus on delivering a consistent entertainment product,” said Sunbet chief executive Simon Gregory.

The company said its platform includes sports betting, online casino-style games such as slots and table games, live dealer gaming, and other digital gaming products supplied through international software partners.

Sunbet Namibia country manager Shafa Shaimemanya said the company would adapt its offering to local market conditions. “There is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to Namibia. Our focus is on delivering a product that is relevant locally while maintaining consistency in quality,” Shaimemanya said.

The group said the service is designed to be mobile-friendly and accessible across devices, reflecting broader shifts in consumer behaviour towards online entertainment in Africa.
