#JustIn: Uranium fuels exports
Uranium was Namibia’s biggest export earner in July, with nearly N$3.7 billion worth of the commodity destined for foreign markets.
Compared to July last year, this is an increase of about N$2.4 billion or 191%.
Whereas uranium constituted 15.3% of Namibia’s total exports a year ago, it now accounts for 28.2%.
China imported most of Namibia’s uranium in July this year, boosting export earnings by nearly N$2.1 billion.
The second biggest shipment - worth N$408 million - went to the USA, according to the latest figures released by the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA).
