MobiPay secures global security certification

MobiPay has strengthened its information security standards after achieving ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification from the British Standards Institution (BSI).The certification recognises that MobiPay has an effective Information Security Management System in place to manage risks, protect customer and business data, and maintain robust governance as digital payments grow across Namibia.

As more Namibians rely on mobile money, digital collections and online financial services, concerns around cybersecurity, fraud and data protection have increased. The internationally recognised standard provides a structured framework for organisations to identify, manage and reduce information security risks.

Delvalene Nghimbwasha, lead implementer and compliance manager at MobiPay, said: “Trust in digital financial services does not happen by accident. It must be managed through systems, controls, accountability and continuous improvement.”

She added that the certification gives customers, merchants, businesses and institutional partners greater confidence in MobiPay’s digital payment platforms and supporting infrastructure.Matt Page, Senior Vice President, Assurance Services, EMEA at BSI, said the certification demonstrates that MobiPay has taken necessary steps to protect itself against cyber threats and align with global best practice.

MobiPay says the achievement supports its wider role in Namibia’s digital financial ecosystem, where secure infrastructure is considered essential for financial inclusion and economic growth. The company becomes one of the certified digital financial services providers in the country operating to this standard.
