Marking your territory

When rugby player Denzil "Denzu" Armas isn't tackling opponents on the field, he’s cruising through life in style - and this time, he’s taking us along for the ride in the Ford Territory, one of Ford’s latest mid-sized SUVs designed for the modern Namibian driver.

In this episode of My.na Cars on DStv channel 285 and GOtv channel 25, we step off the field and into the driver’s seat.

Although Denzu jokes that he’s shopping for a birthday car, it quickly becomes clear that the Ford Territory is no joke. “It’s ideal for young professionals or families,” he says. “You’ve got space, comfort and a whole lot of features packed into one stylish package.”

First impressions matter and the Territory knows it. Featuring a bold chrome grille, LED headlights, and 18" low-profile tyres, this SUV commands attention on the road. Roof rails, blind-spot monitoring, and keyless entry add functionality to its form.

At the rear, a reverse camera and sensors make parking a breeze, even for those new behind the wheel. “All you have to do is look at your mirrors and the screen,” Denzu assures.

With 438 litres of boot space and 60/40 split rear seats, it’s ready for road trips, grocery runs, or shoe-heavy weekend getaways. There’s even a powered tailgate, ideal for anyone in heels, Denzu jokes. “You don’t have to slam it shut; just press a button and it closes automatically.”

Inside the Territory

The Territory’s cabin is equally impressive. A 12.3" touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto sits at the centre, surrounded by sleek, modern finishes. Wireless charging, dual climate control, and smart storage compartments enhance the driving experience. “It's spacious and intuitive,” he says. “You don’t need to be tech-savvy; everything is where it should be.”

Different drive modes - Eco, Normal, Sport, and Mountain - ensure the SUV adapts whether you’re in town or on gravel roads. The gear selector knob adds to the sleek, futuristic feel of the interior. Powered by a 1.8L EcoBoost engine with a 7-speed automatic gearbox, the Ford Territory delivers 138kW. “It’s not about raw power,” Denzu explains, “but control, fuel efficiency, and comfort.”

Fuel consumption sits at a very reasonable 7.5–8L per 100km. Safety is paramount: with lane-keeping assist, tyre pressure monitoring, auto-locking when you walk away with the key, and folding mirrors, it’s packed with features ideal for families or solo travellers.

“Driving it feels natural,” Denzu says. “And for its size, it handles incredibly well in city traffic and on the open road alike.”

Models, pricing & options

The Ford Territory comes in three trims: Ambiente, Trend, and Titanium (Dark Edition). All share the same engine, but higher trims offer sunroofs, 360-degree cameras, and upgraded interior materials. Buyers can also choose between a 6-year/90 000km service plan or a maintenance plan, with a 4-year/120 000km warranty. Available in red, blue, silver, grey, and white, the Territory lets drivers pull up in style wherever they go. “It’s really about how you want to show up,” Denzu adds with a smile.

And his closing line? A pitch-perfect tagline: “Come to Ford and mark your territory!”
