Ford Everest refreshed for 2026 – enhanced performance and features
Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa has confirmed a revised line-up for its Everest sport utility vehicle (SUV) range, scheduled for release in early 2026. The update brings new powertrain options, the introduction of a new Active series to replace the current XLT, and a series of specification enhancements across the seven-seater range—further strengthening its position among family-focused adventure SUVs.
“The current Ford Everest, launched in 2022, has built a strong reputation for comfort, space, versatility, safety, connectivity, performance and all-terrain capability,” said Sunil Sewmohan, Director of Product Marketing at Ford South Africa. “With the updates coming next year, the Everest gains further traction in every one of these areas.”
Sewmohan added that the Active series will now serve as the new entry point into the Everest range, making the model accessible to a wider group of buyers.
The Everest Active will be powered by Ford’s upgraded 2.0-litre single-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine, now equipped with a timing chain for improved durability. Producing 125kW and 405Nm, this efficient powertrain will be available in both two-wheel drive and part-time four-wheel drive, each paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Significant powertrain upgrades have also been introduced for the Everest Sport. The 4x2 model adopts Ford’s lively 2.3-litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine (222kW/452Nm), while the 4x4 variant moves to the torque-heavy 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine (184kW/600Nm) with permanent four-wheel drivea, configuration previously reserved for higher-spec models.
The Wildtrak remains the more adventure-oriented derivative, while the Platinum continues to focus on luxury and refinement. Both retain the 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine with permanent 4x4.
Beyond powertrain changes, the full Everest range will receive tailored specification updates to enhance everyday usability for modern families—whether navigating city traffic or exploring remote destinations.
Further details on pricing, specifications and features will be released closer to the launch date.
